What is the MM6, and what is included?
The SatGear MM6 combines the MM1 Protective Mount with the VSM (Vertical Surface Mount) attachment. Together, they let you install and protect a Starlink Mini on vertical surfaces. Magnets, manual suction cups or electronic suction cups depend on the mounting option you select. The Starlink Satellite Internet System is sold separately.
You can also hard mount the MM6 without magnets or suction cups using the included U-brackets. Screw the U-brackets directly into a vertical surface through their pre-drilled holes, then use the thumb screws to attach the VSM to the U-brackets. This gives you three installation options: magnets, suction cups, or a hard mount with screws.
How easy is it to detach the MM1 from the VSM (Vertical Surface Mount)?
It is simple. The MM1 Protective Mount (the top piece of the MM6) attaches to the VSM (Vertical Surface Mount) with four included Allen screws. Remove those four screws to detach the MM1.
If you plan to detach it frequently, you can replace the Allen screws with optional thumb screws from our Accessories page for quicker removal by hand. This makes it easy to move your MM1 to other compatible SatGear setups, such as a spare tire mount, the MM3 roof rack tray or a pole mount.
Can I mount the MM6 without drilling?
Yes. Choose suction cups for a suitable smooth surface or magnets for a suitable steel surface. Both options allow installation without drilling. The MM6 also supports permanent installation with screws or bolts through its pre-drilled U-brackets.
Where can I install the MM6?
The MM6 is designed for vertical surfaces such as vehicle side panels, RV walls, trailers, semi trucks, vans, service bodies, equipment enclosures and shipping containers. Choose suction cups, magnet cups, or use the included U-brackets for a permanent installation with screws.
What is the difference between the manual and electronic suction cups?
Both options use two large 6-inch suction cups. The manual version uses a hand-operated pump. The optional electronic version monitors suction pressure and automatically re-pumps when vacuum drops below 80%. The electronic cups are USB-rechargeable, water-resistant and operate for approximately 2–3 weeks per charge.
What surface do the MM6 suction cups need?
The 6-inch suction cups can be used on smooth vertical surfaces such as glass and metal, including vehicle panels, RV walls, heavy machinery and utility vehicles. Each cup needs a clean, flat area at least 6 inches across, without indents or ridges that interrupt the seal.
The surface does not have to be perfectly smooth. The suction cups can also work on lightly textured vertical surfaces, such as textured powder-coated panels or the flat areas of shipping-container walls, as long as each cup forms and maintains a complete seal.
How strong are the MM6 magnets?
The MM6 magnetic mounting option uses two ultra-strong magnets, each rated at over 130 pounds of pull force, for over 260 pounds of combined pull force. They attach to suitable steel panels and allow fast installation and repositioning. Check that your mounting panel attracts a magnet.
Can I permanently mount the MM6?
Yes. Permanently fasten the included U-brackets to a vertical surface with screws or bolts, then attach the VSM (Vertical Surface Mount) to the U-brackets using the thumb screws. You can leave the U-brackets installed and remove the VSM whenever you need to move it.
Additional sets of U-brackets let you prepare multiple mounting locations and move the same VSM between them. For example, leave one set of U-brackets screwed to a shipping container, then move the VSM to another location using a second set of U-brackets fitted with magnets or suction cups for use on an RV or utility vehicle.

Can I adjust the angle of the MM6?
Yes. The MM6 provides approximately ±10° of tilt adjustment so you can fine-tune the Starlink Mini’s orientation and compensate for angled vehicle panels or other mounting surfaces.
